Tailgate Contest Information, Food Safety, and Grilling Safety

 
 
 

 

Tailgate Contest Rules

 
Rules:

1. Teams must be a family unit - with one member being a parent or guardian over 21 years old
 
2. One team member must be an active member of 4-H (completed 4-H online).
 
3. Team members must view the Grilling Safety video linked to the registration form
 
4. Team members will submit a PowerPoint presentation explaining the choice of meat to be cooked and the preparation of the meat. Also include one side dish to be cooked on the grill and explain the preparation of the side dish. Please list 3 safety consideration you followed (food or grilling safety).
 
5. Include a picture or pictures of lighting the grill and placing the chosen meat and side dish on the grill.
 
6. Include a picture or pictures showing the removal of both dishes from the grill and the presentation of the food on the table.
 
7. List the steps on one slide on how you extinguished the grill.
 
8. Include a summary of the things learned making the chosen food.
 
9. Submit the PowerPoint to jim.rhodes@okstate.edu, jean.bailey@okstate.edu and elizabeth.nicholson@okstate.edu
 
10. All teams will receive a cookbook of recipes submitted to the contest, two 4-H aprons and be invited to a 4-H Family Tailgate at a OSU Cowboy Home Football game. The champion will receive an award at the tailgate. Tentative Date: 11/14/2020
