Welcoming Video

Welcome 4-H STEMist Campers!!

Stephanie, Sarah Beth, and Madi are looking forward to kicking off Gardening Camp with you! Your STEMists are so excited for you to start our Gardening Camp with us starting on July 6th!

On day one we will start with learning all about the parts of a plant, on day two we’re going to switch gears and learn what a plant needs to grow, on day three we’ll learn about the ground beneath us, on day four we will learn how germination works and finally on day five we’re going to learn all about container gardening.

As for activities! On Monday, we’re going to dig right in and make our own paper flowers out of recycled materials. On Tuesday, we will dig a little deeper into what plants need! On Wednesday we’ll do our soil test at home and determine your soil texture. On Thursday, we’re taking you on a tour of the Oklahoma State University Botanical Gardens! Throughout the tour we will identify some really cool plants that you may be able to grow in your garden at home. After the tour, you will learn how germination works and you can try it for yourself with seeds at home! Last but not least, on Friday you can finally kick start your own garden! Learn how to make a container garden and bring your sweet tooth to enjoy us STEMist’s favorite snack that we call dirt in a cup!

Each lesson includes an engaging activity and instructional video followed by questionnaires on Microsoft Office Forms and sharing your experience at Flipgrid.com. Watch the instructional videos, complete the activity sheets, and connect with us on Flipgrid and Microsoft Office Forms. We LOVE hearing from our campers! Website links to Microsoft Office Forms and Flipgrid, including the Flipgrid access code, are listed at the bottom of all handouts.
Accessibility to these activities and instructional videos will be available online.
Reminders!!
• Camp lessons can be completed any time during or after the camp week!
• Both Flipgrid and Zoom are downloadable mobile applications.
We will host a Zoom conference call at 3:00 p.m. CST Friday, July 10 to meet with you and talk about what we learned during our Gardening Camp.
Feel free to contact us with any questions through our email: ok4hsteam@okstate.edu We look forward to learning with you!
