Weather Camp: July 6-10

Welcoming Video

Hello Future Weather Wizards! Are you ready to learn more about the magical world of meteorology?

Welcome to week four of Oklahoma 4-H STEMist Virtual Camps! This week's forecast includes loads of fun and a 100% chance of learning. Starting Monday, July 6th we'll be kicking off Weather Wizards Camp from the clouds by watching rain fall and discovering the mystery behind the water cycle. On this rainy day we will create a magical treat you won't want to miss! We will continue to learn about clouds on Tuesday, July 7th with some identification. Then on Wednesday, July 8th you will be blown away when we discuss wind and tornadoes. Have you ever wondered how people knew the time before clocks were invented? It may seem like magic, but on Thursday, July 9th we'll be learning how to tell the time from the sun. To finish our week of magical fun on Friday, July 10th we will be  joined by a guest speaker, Mr. Rob Hill the Stillwater Emergency Management Director. Who will discuss safety precautions you can take at home to prepare for extreme weather.

Each day of camp we will provide you with an activity sheet with clear instructions of exactly what to do! Be sure to click the link at the bottom of your activity sheets to find a Microsoft form to fill out for all five activities. Also, log on to flipgrid.com and use the code provided at the bottom of the activity sheets to show us how your experiments went. Finally, remember that there will be five YouTube Videos to go along with every day of Weather Wizards Camp! You will be able to find these on the Oklahoma 4-H YouTube page!
Accessibility to these activities and instructional videos will be available online. Camp lessons can be completed any time during the camp week. Both Flipgrid and Zoom are downloadable mobile applications.

We will host a follow up conference utilizing the magic of Zoom at 2:00 p.m. CST Friday, July 10th regarding Weather Wizards Camp.
