Oklahoma 4-H Rising Leaders Conference Slated April 5
Monday, February 24, 2025
Oklahoma 4-H’ers in third through seventh grades are invited to participate in a one-day educational opportunity that will help them bolster their leadership skills while learning more about 4-H project work.
The Oklahoma 4-H Rising Leaders Conference will take place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on April 5 on the Oklahoma State University campus.
Sara Randolph, OSU Extension Southeast District 4-H program specialist, said the conference allows club members to get hands-on experience in several project areas.
“Participants will select four workshops throughout the day that will give them a
greater insight into the overall possibilities that come with 4-H membership,” Randolph
said. “We’ll feature 14 different workshops during the day.”
Some workshop topics include Fuel Like an Athlete, Dog Training 101: Youth Edition,
The Sound of Science, The Clover Code and ACE – Activating Civic Engagement.
The Oklahoma 4-H Youth Development program is historically known as an organization
in which youth can discover leadership and hone their leadership skills. The Oklahoma
4-H Rising Leaders Conference will afford participants yet another opportunity to
develop skills they’ll use throughout their 4-H career and their lives.
Parents are encouraged to participate in the last rotation. Becky Walker, Pontotoc
County OSU Extension 4-H educator, will present 4-H Project Work Development for parents
to learn more about the role of project work in a youth’s 4-H experience.
“4-H is about fostering positive youth/adult partnerships, and having parents involved is a great way to accomplish this,” Randolph said. “This conference is also a fun way to meet like-minded 4-H’ers from across the state. These club members could easily end up being life-long friends.”
The $20 registration fee is due by March 16 and can be completed through ZSuites. For more information, contact the county OSU Extension office or Randolph at (580) 332-4100.
