Shooting Sports
Human growth and development is the primary goal of the 4-H shooting sports program. Shooting sports are an outstanding way to provide human growth and development opportunities. Introducing safe and responsible use of firearms and archery equipment opens valuable vocational and life long recreational education. Listed below are resources and program information for 4-H members and coaches to get started in the shooting sports program.

Oklahoma 4-H Shooting Sports Level 2 Instructor Certification:
In search of Oklahoma Level 1 4-H Shooting Sports instructors with two or more years of service that are willing to take the next step and apply to become a Level 2 4-H Shooting Sports Instructor. There is a Level 2 training near Junction City Kansas May 1-5, 2023 and we are looking to build our Level 2 instructor team for Oklahoma 4-H. This is a commitment since you will be required to teach at Level 1 4-H shooting Sports instructor trainings, assist with state contests, potentially assist Oklahoma as a coach for the National team, and serve as a liaison for your respective discipline. Applications are required and you must have the approval and letters of recommendation from your Extension Educator and District Program Specialist as well as Allard Ruth and Dr. Stephen Beck. If you are interested please visit with your Extension Educator and your family, read the application, and complete everything by the due date of March 1, 2023. All applications will be considered, not all will be approved. Please reach out with questions.

Shooting Sports Input Form
Now that the Oklahoma State 4-H Shooting Sports contests are nearing an end for this program year. Here is a form for you to submit any rule changes, suggestions, feedback (good and bad), or input. Each form will be reviewed by the Oklahoma 4-H Shooting Sports Advisory Board meeting at their February meeting to determine actions to be taken to improve the program. Forms are due February 1, 2023. Please reach out with questions!

Postal Match
- An opportunity for air rifle through the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP).

Scholarship Opportunities
- This year, CMP will continue to award $1,000, $3,000 and $5,000 scholarships for over 90 rising high school seniors. Applicants will compete based on their rifle, pistol and/or shotgun competition history, academic excellence, community service, leadership and potential.
- The deadline to apply for a CMP Scholarship will be March 31, 2023.

National 4-H Shooting Sports Quiz Bowl (Virtual)
- Teams consist of 3 or 4 members, with the highest three scores counting as the Team Score.
- Team members will automatically be re-registered in the Individual Competition as well as the Team Competition. Quiz Can be taken anytime between January 16 and January 20, 2023.
- Scores will be based on the number of correct answers and the amount of time it takes to complete the quiz.
