Meat with Mafi 2024 Meat Judging Workshop

Registration Deadline: January 23, 2024

Cost: $75 per person

Practice Contest: either Feb 24 or 27 TBD watch for updates

 

Officials with class discussions will be posted day after the contest for review. Preparation videos sent week prior. ALL contests close day of at 8 pm.

 

  • Closes Feb. 14 – Pork Judging (9 classes and questions)
  • Closes Feb. 28 – Beef Judging (10 classes and questions)
  • Closes Mar. 6 – Retail ID (40 ID)
  • Closes Mar. 13 – Practice contest
  • Closes Mar. 27 – Virtual contest 

Cash prizes for contest (all scores except Mar 7 contest)

  • 1st = $200 – each division
  • 2nd = $100 – each division
  • 3rd = $75 – each division

Cash for total workshop OSU (all scores except Mar. 27 contest)

 

Midwest Invitational Meat Judging Contest 

Date: April 13, 2024

When: 9am

Registration Deadline: April 4

Cost: $20 per student

Location: Oklahoma Food and Agricultural Products Center, Oklahoma State University, Stillwater.

 

Open to all youth and will include both Sr. division and a Jr. division. Teams can consist of up to four students with highest 3 counting for awards. There is no limit to the number of teams, students, a 4-Hclub, or FFA chapter. Awards presentation will follow 1 hour after the conclusion of the contest or can be mailed. The Sr. FFA division (14 and over as of Jan. 1) will include 30 ID, 6 classes,2 sets of questions, and 6 carcasses for yield and quality grading. The Sr. 4-H division (14 and over as of Jan. 1) will include 30 ID, 6 classes and 3 sets of reasons. The Jr. division will consist of 30 ID (species and retail cut only), 6 classes and 2 sets of questions.
