In-Tents Engineering

Learn how to set up a dome tent with us! No tent? No problem! We have a second activity on where we'll be building our own tiny tents! Bring your toothpicks, gummy candies, straws, pipe cleaners and marshmallows and get ready for some fun!

Campsite Cooking

Learn how to use aluminum foil to cook a delicious supper on a campfire, as well as how to make a delicious cast iron pizza and finally we'll make a scrumptious dessert in a dutch oven! All of our recipes can be cooked over a campfire or in your oven at home!

Supplies List

Dutch Oven

  • Dutch oven (10 inch), disinfecting wipes, heavy duty aluminum foil, paper towel roll, 1 can (16 oz) lemon pie filling, 1 package (15 oz) yellow cake mix, 4 oz cream cheese, ½ cup (1 stick) of butter. optional chocolate chips, fruit, nuts, etc. Charcoal chimney ( found online or local hardware/sporting goods store), 2 - 3 large metal pans (metal hog feed pans work well), charcoal briquettes, 2-3 full sheets of newspaper, grill lighter, metal tongs and oven mitts.

Skillet Pizza

  • Pizza dough (homemade, from a pizzeria or store bought), pizza sauce or seasoned tomato sauce. mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese, pepperoni, basil (or toppings or your choice), 10 inch cast iron skillet, spoon, spatula, oven mitts.

Aluminum Foil

  • 1 tablespoon butter, 1 hamburger patty, seasoning of your choice (salt, pepper, garlic powder, etc.), vegetables of your choice (potatoes, onions, bell peppers, pepperoncinis, carrots, etc.)

 

Fun Under the Sun

Sing along with three of our favorite camp songs and discover the proper way to apply insect repellent and sunscreen. All vital in having a safe and fun camping trip.

  • Cardboard box, scissors, tape, bobby pins or paper clips.

 

S'more Science

Craving something sweet but can't find a campfire. You are in luck we will be making solar ovens s'more harnessing the power of the sun's rays.

  • Cardboard pizza box, pencil, ruler, box cutter or scissors, aluminum foil, clear tape, black construction paper or black spray paint, plastic wrap or large transparent plastic bag, newspapers, oven mitt, plate, chocolate, graham crackers, marshmallows. Optional: a thermometer that goes up to 250 degree Fahrenheit.

 

Summer Skies

Ready to stay up past your bedtime because we're going stargazing! Invite your family to come outside with you at night to learn about the night sky! Use a star tracking app on any device to learn about the wonderful sky constellations!
